Time is one of the most valuable things in life. As the title of this manga drew me in. I wanted to see the depth of this story. As I love stories that make me think and give me different views on life. With this story is a prime example. Reading this story you are following a dying man that sold everything but a fraction of the time that he had left in this world. What he does with it really intrigued me so I wanted to talk about it.

I Sold Off My Lifespan, For 10,000 Yen A Year follows the main character Kusunoki who is a deadbeat. Quit on college, his job, and basically was in his room doing nothing. Leading to a life of nothingness. He found out about the deal and accepts it. But, due to his life being basically worthless they could only give him the minimum in value and time. Making his value only worth 10000 Yen or 100 USD a year for his life. Along with the project time of life being 30 years. Learning that saden him but he still sold it. Leaving him with three months of life. While being watched by a overseer to his last days on earth by a girl named Miyagi.

Seeing what this man does with his little amount of riches and time was very interesting. As he does many things. But, the moments that I loved were just full pages of him looking off at life around him. Knowing that he will never see it again. It is beautiful and an amazing read from the start to end. Then it became a story about relations. As overtime in the manga following Kusunoki’s final days on earth. Miyagi the person that watches him to his death, grew closer to him. It then becomes a story that shows you the happiest and saddest moments of a man’s life. With the ending of this manga being beautiful yet sad and if you haven’t read it it is a must.

Final Thoughts

This is a series that I wish would be explored more. As there was a special chapter with a happy father with a daughter that got the offer and his chapter really made me appreciate this manga even more. With another perspective on time and its value. This is just a manga that I wanted to discuss and get out there.
