Well if you like Star Wars. You have to like something about space. Also if you are on this blog. You most likely watch anime. So this May 4th I decided to talk about 4 anime series that take place in the depths of space that you can watch this May 4th. So that the force may be with you (cringes on the inside). This list consists of the anime that I have seen so certain series will not be covered. Those of which I will be in my honorable mentions. If there are those that I have missed feel free to comment below some space series. With all that out of the way, let go to the moon with this list.

4) Astra Lost In Space

This is a great anime that really explores different environments, planets, and ecosystems in space. While giving you the feeling of a series that is fun and full of exploration. It is also dark and full of mystery. As everyday these kids have a chance to die in this dark world of space. Along with this huge mystery of the series being how did these kids end up lost in space in the first place. This is an anime that I love and it is a complete anime that you can binge from beginning to end.

3) Cowboy Bebop

Now this is an anime that I have never talked about. As this is a series that I watched as a kid on toonami/adult swim. If I am being honest with myself, I remember jack from this series with the exceptions of three things. One is that this series took place in space, two that the opening was amazing, and three Spike is a pretty cool dude. I recommend this series because it is a classic and highly regarded. A series that I plan to rewatch one day and I am pretty sure that I will enjoy.

2) Legend Of The Galactic Heroes Franchise

Now this series is one that I know when I complete the anime, it will be in my top 5 Anime all time. It is that good. It is a slow burn in the first episode. But, I tell you that after a certain point of the first movie. I realized why it is so highly regarded and to some people a classic. If you want space battles, politics, war, strategy, well written characters, and so much more. I highly recommend this galactic space franchise.

Honorable Mentions

I want to show respect to all of the series that I haven’t seen. For example Space Dandy is an anime that I have yet to see. But, I have heard high praises. I have yet to see Space Brothers, a series that would have definitely made this list if I have read it. As for Planetes I have only read the manga and not watched the anime. But, it is up there as a series that is a must read for the 4th of May.

1) Gintama

What better anime to watch in honor of star wars. Than the series that has made an entire parody arc of the entire franchise of Star Wars. Gintama is my favorite anime of all time and for good reason. While also being one of the best space anime of all time also. As the different planets, meme planets, aliens, and so much more is just a small part of why I love this insane series.
